As the end of the academic year approaches, it’s time to reflect on what has been a difficult period for teachers and children, as we’ve all been learning to cope with living through the pandemic.

At the same time, we need to look forward, think about how we can recover and focus on improving everybody’s mental health and wellbeing.

We often talk about the significant wellbeing benefits for children of taking learning outdoors (not to mention the improved academic outcomes and environmental awareness). But there are also huge benefits for the working lives and wellbeing of teachers. This is partly because it can help make their jobs easier, more rewarding and more fun but also simply because spending time outdoors in nature is so beneficial.

Planning more learning outdoors in the next academic year starts with giving teachers the skills and confidence to do so. Our range of training courses allow you to take the approach that works best for you and your school, whether it’s a short introductory training session or a long-term programme. And we can adapt any training to fit your requirements – just let us know how we can help.

We’d also like to help you support children and parents over the summer holidays, improving their wellbeing in preparation for the new academic year through spending as much time as possible engaged in healthy play.

We’ve put together a bank of resources, ideas and advice for you to share with parents to help children play all through the summer.

Outdoor learning and play can make a huge difference to schools’ recovery from the pandemic and moving to a place of positivity, wellbeing and joy. Learning through Landscapes is here to give you the help and support that you need.
